New Campaign to Raise Awareness of Hidden Disability

Headway will take the lead in an innovative public awareness campaign #iseebeyond beginning in February 2016. The campaign will be launched February 3, 2016 by the Minister for Health at Headway Ireland’s main offices and will be supported by a strong PR and social media plan.

We will produce a series of 6 short videos to promote positive attitudes towards people living with a hidden disability. These videos will reflect real stories and illustrate how all might not be how it seems in the day to day life of the person living with brain injury, challenging those watching to think about what the person might be going through and to be more compassionate, kinder and even practical in their responses. We will remind audiences that there be unseen challenges in dealing with daily life despite the appearance of ‘looking good’. We will seek to challenge the viewer to stop and think, to wonder what is going on with the person. That there is more to them than meets the eye – to see beyond.

Every time someone watches a video they will be asked to share the video with friends and colleagues. They will also be rewarded with a digital widget which they can download for their online social media profile. We hope in this way that the campaign will get some viral traction online. We hope you will support this campaign.
